“ The human brain is a wonderful thing. It starts working the moment you are born and never stops until you stand up and speak in public ”   ~ George Jessel

It has been quite a few years now that I have been in business and I have made a self-discovery – I realized today that I have done some of my best work helping my clients with Public Speaking fears. Smoking and Self-esteem are the other 2 areas, but that’s another blog. I realized that the reason I am able to get such fantastic results in the fear of public speaking arena is that my clients are so committed to making the change. The fearful public speaker is a breed apart from most of my other clients. They realize that it’s their image, even their careers on the line and that if they want to succeed they must not only get over the fear but master platform skills.Think about it, in almost every sphere in our lives today, we are called upon to speak in public be it at work, in a boardroom, even a conference call or in your private lives at family gatherings and social occasions. It is the kind of skill that can change the direction of your career, create the right impression, and even escalate your earnings.

So if the thought of addressing a group of people terrifies you and your mind goes into overdrive about it, it’s time to get help.

The good news is that public speaking is a skill that can be improved with practice and experience and a little bit of hypnosis.

Remember that the mind accepts everything positive as well as negative. Currently, your mind is fixated on the negative experience you had when you last did this and is doing a hamster wheel based on that fear. It is simply a matter to introduce a new vision/image/ idea to your mind. One that it happily accepts. Most people want this so badly that they are quite ready to imagine this for themselves.

Hypnosis works at the subconscious level when the critical mind is powerless.

Once the subconscious is able to visualize or imagine an image of yourself speaking effortlessly as people in the room smile and nod, your mind accepts this image because it wants to. From there it is simply a matter of implantation, positive suggestion and creating a physical anchor that one can bring up consciously – like “every time clench my fist, I am able to speak freely.” Once we program this behaviour, the client is able to make a gesture of making a fist or hold a pen and feel that they can speak effortlessly.

Now, it is a little like exposure therapy, one needs a few sessions for this to work but with each session, you will see significant changes in how to react to the same situation and with each positive experience you are able to use it to program your mind for the next time.

It’s almost like your mind sees it and your body feels it!
